Rabbit is a joint project by several Regional Development agencies - see the 'members' page for details of those areas currently covered - if you are not currently covered check us out again soon.
The RDAs are conscious of the fact that many companies in remote areas do not have the ability to connect to ADSL or Cable modems - since the infrastructure for these is expensive to install and therefore is more likely to be installed in high density population areas first. ADSL for example requires the exchange to be converted (an expensive proposition) and can then only reach users within approximately 6.5km of the exchange.
Even if all exchanges are enabled there will still be thousands of businesses unable to connect – or able to connect but only at the slowest speeds – this is the market we wish to assist.
In some regions we are partnering with Local Business Links to provide advice on the issue of broadband and what to do with it.

The benefits of a high speed connection are becoming more apparent everyday. Various possible uses of broadband internet include (but are not limited to)...
- Teleworking - and Virtual private networks from home to office
- Security - have web cams set up that notify of intruders
- Video conferencing - Meetings, support, training
- Media Streaming
- Applications - payroll, accounts, virus protection, backups, disaster recovery / offsite data storage & Retrieval - quality software that a small business may not be able to afford to buy, but which they can have access to over a broadband connection.
- Remote Network support & Management
- Remote diagnostics & Help (such as Windows XP remote assistance) Help desks - both access to and operation on behalf of the SME.
- E-Learning
- E-commerce - including the formation of cluster groups and purchasing consortia, on-line purchasing and sales.
- Information retrieval / software and virus updates at acceptable speeds.
- Access to the E-Government content
- On-line Gaming
- Much faster document transmission and receipt.
- Web surfing at the speed it should be!
